Students and medical trainees who do not already have a study or work permit and who wish to visit Canada (for interviews, etc.) should apply for their visa at least one month prior to their intended departure to Canada in the following manner:

(a)  Download a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) Application Form from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada Internet site: www.cic.gc.ca, complete it fully, ensuring that you have answered all the questions (leave no blank unanswered questions).  The following are the steps to download the (TRV) Applications Forms from the Internet:           

1. Go to the CIC website: www.cic.gc.ca
2. Click on ?English?
3. Click on ?Applications and Forms? in the center of the table at top of page
4. Click on ?Immigration Applications for Persons outside Canada?
5. Click on the bullet ?Visiting Canada? under ?Temporary Residence Applications?

Download the following documents:

• Authority to Release Information [IMM 5476]
• Document Checklist [IMM 5484]
• (b)   If you intend to submit your documents to the Visa Section at the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh, please also download, complete and include the following Riyadh-specific forms with your application:
• Visitor Check-List
• Travel Information Form
•  Supplementary Information Form               

(c)   Complete all documents fully, leaving no unanswered questions.

(d)  If you do not have Internet access, contact the Visa Section at the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh (Tel: 01-488-2288; Fax: 01-488-1361; Email: ryadh@dfait-maeci.gc.ca) and ask that the TRV Visa Application Forms be sent to you via mail or fax. 

(d)  Attached to your completed Application, you should include:        

1.   Letter of Invitation for Interview from Canadian University, if applicable
2.   Evidence of financial support/letter from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau
3.   Photocopy of return airline ticket, if available
4.   Two (2) passport photos
5. A Canadian dollar bank draft payable to ?The Receiver General for Canada? for $75.00 for a single entry visa (please note that Multiple Entry Visas are not available for first time applicants).  For more information on fees, please refer to the Visa Processing Fees document.

(e)  Submitting your application:

(i) In Person:

Bring your completed TRV Application and above documents and your passport to the Visa Section, Canadian Embassy, P.O. Box 94321, Riyadh 11693, Saudi Arabia.  The Visa Section is open to receive passports and applications Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 08:30 to 11:00 hours. 

(ii) By Courier:

You may also send your Application and supporting documents (along with a photocopy of your passport) to the Visa Section (please see above address).  Please note that their telephone number is (01) 488-2288.

Please note:  The Visa Offices no longer accept applications sent by fax.  The original Application and all supporting documents (together with a photocopy of your passport) must be sent by courier

(f)     If your documents are in order, your visa should be ready to be picked up after about 15 days.  Make sure that you bring your passport to the Visa Section when you return to collect your visa.  Please note that the issuance of visas is a procedure solely within the jurisdiction of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration of the Canadian Government over which the Cultural Bureau has no authority or control and we cannot, of course, guarantee that you will receive your visa on arrival.
